Winter Olympic World Cup raises concerns

You also need to be relaxed if you want to achieve your goals and make the most of your potential. Do whatever helps you to relax. Don't copy what others do to relax. Discover, if you haven't already, what makes you, as an individual relax. Some people, including me, just hate lying on the beach in the sun.

If you want to succeed or win at anything you have to turn up and show that you want to play. If you don't want to play, pretend that you do! If you start by pretending, your pretence can soon become reality!

Make the most of your opportunities even if they are unexpected.

Use any emotions that might help motivate you whether they are negative or positive. Use the confidence that comes from past victories.

Do what you love to do even if you are not being paid to do it. Amateurs have been known to out perform the professionals.

Personally, I was confused. Why were people "Raven-ing" about the World Cup through an online dating site? What was the motivation? What they say? ... and because my friend wants to watch a bunch of sissies "plays soccer?!?

women women in America have a unique view, when it comes to football. Have a genuine interest in the game, and seems to understand what is happening in better than many American men. Women are not football fans are fans of footballers.

Men: Ignorant at best and patriotic heart-worthy combination. My friend who thinks "soccer is for sissies" is a male Texas. Don't understand soccer, this is not the love of sport, and do not understand the size or impact of the World Cup for mankind. Men, however, understand what it means to die-hard passion, patriotic to the bone and understand sport, skill and strategy. Men sports fans, not a football fans.

American alien: knowledgeable, passionate, but tactful. American alien understands the World Cup is the biggest sporting event in the world and as individuals embody the passion that is the FIFA World Cup 2010. These are the people who want to take vacation day from work, but negotiate to use that day in increments of 2 hours, so that they can watch games on television. While we understand sport, understand the "commoners" around them not to. American alien I educate their friends about the "beautiful game" and attempts to grow the love of soccer throughout the social community. No lecture, distinguishing, and teach through Guided discussion, humor and debate. American alien has conditioned to be an advocate for soccer, but not by promoter. There are sometimes better in an American life by watching an aliens game football themselves in a room with the volume on high. This is private, and only.

conclusion: America is about football, but don't want to be. Understand the World Cup is a great event, but I don't understand why. Americans register entry into the community of Raven since Raven and reading comments is like a little puzz straighten a wall. One entry = one piece of the puzzle. Stepping up to the plate in this six-episode HBO series, comedy's newest It Boy, Danny McBride (The Foot Fist Way, Pineapple Express, Tropic Thunder), hits it out of the park as Kenny Powers, a former baseball phenom, who, after spending his millions and burning all bridges, returns to his high school to teach physical education. Three reasons why you should beware of Soccer and the World Cup

While very popular in most countries, soccer is obviously not the most popular sports in America. Part of the reason is that Americans tend to prefer games that invented "them", as the (American) football and baseball. If you ask any American sports fan "who won the World Series (Baseball) last year?" will be able to tell you. Or if they ask "which two teams have played Super Bowl last year?" almost truly will be able to tell you, the final score and who won. But if you ask "who won the last World Cup?" may seem to you with a blank stare.

There are reasons that football is the most popular sports in many countries. Here are three of them:

Action-action for football is almost non-stop (unless there is a penalty). For many people, this makes soccer thrilling to watch. Unlike American football or Baseball where there are exciting plays, but then stops the action for a while until the next match or the next game? These two sports are too stop-and-go.

-oriented skill-Soccer is a game of skill and finesse than brute force. Baseball, players try to get stronger so they can hit the ball farther and hit more home runs. Football and getting stronger will help a little, but it will not make you better able to keep the ball away from someone trying to steal their software. Skill aspect makes it fun to watch.

The miracle of the 1950 World Cup

On a sweltering late afternoon in Brazil nearly sixty years ago, a rag tag squad of Americans stunned the international soccer world by defeating the heavily favored team from England 1-0 in the opening rounds of the 1950 FIFA World Cup. The win was so shocking that English newspapers assumed the score was a typing error and edited their publications to reflect an English victory of 10-1. Helping to secure the win was a group of five young players from the Italian section of St. Louis, known as The Hill.

As with the other members of the U.S. team, the St. Louis quintet of Frank Borghi, Gino Pariani, Susanj Colombo, Harry Keough and Frank Wallace had little or no professional experience. They were not novices, however, with many playing for the powerful Simpkins-Ford amateur club which won the U.S. Open Cup in 1948 and 1950. Their World Cup training was limited to only 10 days prior to traveling to Brazil, with their uniforms arriving just before departure. So unimpressed were the oddsmakers that most would not even accept wagers on the American team of 500 to 1.

One of the more interesting players on the squad was the goalkeeper, Frank Borghi. Born in St. Louis to Italian parents in 1925, he served as a field medic during World War II. Initially drawn to baseball, Borghi was talented enough to spend two seasons in the minor leagues. Wishing to keep fit in the winter, he decided to try soccer, then a winter sport, and tried out for the powerful Simpkins-Ford team. Borghi, however, simply could not kick a ball. Utilizing his large hands and hand-eye coordination, he moved to goalkeeper and quickly excelled at the position, enough to merit a call-up to the national team in 1949.

The Italian influence on the U.S. team was not limited to Frank Borghi. His teammate and Dagget Street neighbor, Virginio (Gino) Pariani, also was born to Italian immi grants. Pariani was so talented that by the age of 15, he was playing in the country's top amateur division, eventually earning league MVP honors. "Gino was probably more appreciated by his teammates than the fans," World Cup teammate and fellow Hall of Famer Walter Bahr said. "Always reliable, always gave a good game--you could depend upon him to do his job well." Both Borghi and Pariani would eventually earn induction into the United States National Soccer Hall Of Fame.

Surprisingly, the team qualified for the 1950 World Cup, and found themselves facing Spain, Chile, and England in group play. Borghi fear ed the English most of all, calling them the "fathers of soccer." His primary concern ' was not a win, but to "keep [the score] down to four or five goals." The English squad was formidable and isolated considered the world's best, with a post-war record of 23 wins with only 4 losses and 3 draws. The same oddsmakers that refused bets on the long shot Americans rated the English as 3-1 favorite to win the Cup.

Group play has with the English edging Chile 2-0 in Rio de Janeiro as the Americans were bested by Spain 3-1 after an early lead provided by Gino Pariani's goal. The squads would face each other a few days later on June 29 at Matt Pinto (Minerisao) Stadium in Belo Horizante, Brazil. Immediately, Borghi fretted over the expected German onslaught, thinking to himself, "Oh my god, the roof is going to cave in." The spectators exploded in essential as halftime approached with the U.S. ahead.

Encouraged by their play, the second half opened with another scoring opportunity for the American team, but failed to capitalize. As the clock ticked down, the game became more physical, including BTW rugby-style tackles by the U.S. that lead to two free bliss for the English. Both were saved by an inspired Borghi. An increasingly desperate English squad pressed forward to no avail. They had taken 20 shots on goal while the Americans had only one. As the final whistle blew, the Americans celebrated while the dejected English team stood about, jaws agape, wondering what had just occurred. Years later, Borghi would recall the cordiality of the English team upon seeing the Americans at the Rio de Janeiro airport after the match.

The city after-effects wouldn '' t last for the Americans, however, as they lost their last group play game to Chile. Perhaps still stunned by their epic failure, the English squad also lost their final game, and both teams failed to qualify for the elimination round. The World Cup was ultimately won by Uruguay on July 16, 1950.

Soccer did not always reside in the backwaters of American sports. In 1934, the American squad was led by future Hall of Famer, Aldo Donelli. Needing to beat a tough Mexican team in the final qualifier, Donelli put on a show scoring all four goals in a 4-2 American win. The joy of advancing to the elimination round was short-lived, however, as they faced a very strong Italian team. Donelli would tally the only goal as the Americans were trounced 7-1. The loss was certainly profound, as professional soccer in the States has a steady decline into pockets of semi-professional regional leagues, with one notable exception: St. Louis.

Frank Borghi would continue as the National Team's goalkeeper through the 1954 World Cup qualification rounds. He retains greater pride in his accomplishments with the Simkins-Ford semi-pro team that won the U.S. Open Cup in 1948 and 1950, and his election into the National Soccer Hall of Fame. Many others disagree, however, and this Frank's greatest moment was his shut-out against England in Belo Horizonte. It's arguably the greatest improvement with regard highlight of American soccer to this day.

Boy bitten by a dog, five, Southampton on the face

The boy was walking with his father in Mayfield Southampton on Sunday when the Springer Spaniel is on it.

He was bitten on the right cheek, was taken to hospital where he was treated the wound.

His father came over to the owner of the dog, but said that she was denied her pet was bitten and boy.
