NEW YORK (Reuters) - AOL Inc. formed three partnerships to help reduce the costs - and eventually jobs - while strengthening cover three areas: sports, health and real estate.
AOL said Thursday that he has hit news and sales partnerships with the Sporting News, all the days of health and moving Inc. in a sign that the transactions more could come as AOL is trying to revamp its advertising business.
The partnership with the Sporting News could affect sport AOL internal blog, FanHouse, currently of the source of sports news site. AOL Chief Executive Tim Armstrong said during a conference call that there could be a "partial impact" resulting in job losses of up to tens, although he was not to know if it would cut all at this stage.
"We believe these partners will be better to their core business as us," said Armstrong. "We believe that it will help us reduce the overall expense to AOL while providing a better user experience.
"I think that faster, stronger, cheaper is a better way to focus our company."
FanHouse brand does not disappear, Armstrong said. New sports provide a daily sports news coverage and become the "Lighthouse sports destination," according to a press release. Sporting News will also sell AOL advertising.
Everyday health will become the destination of health for the AOL readers looking for information and advice.
Move Inc., lists of real estate online related to the National Association of Realtors, will provide data of immovable property such as neighbourhood houses and sale information at AOL Real Estate.
Last year, AOL has made several acquisitions to boost its offering of content including technology influential TechCrunch blog.
For more than year, AOL has tried to turn around his business, he moves a degree of dependence on the supply of dial-up Internet and online news and entertainment to attract advertisers.
AOL is betting news and video will attract advertisers to its new platform for advertising hell project, which focuses on the largest of the display ad formats.
The company has been touting that this is the first employer of journalists, more than 500 hiring among the nine winners of Pulitzer Prize and two voters choose the Heisman Trophy, awarded annually to U.S. college, the best footballer.
But the last few months, several journalists who produce news and original comments AOL left the company.
